ISKRA phone

Davorin Savnik                        1979              Telephone

What a spark of imagination - a beautifully sleek, flat telephone. The Slowenian architect who created it led the company’s design department for a decade while conceiving numerous products in the electro-technical and electro-medical equipment area. The company, who’s Yugoslawian name means ‘spark’ in English, paralleled international competitors, and that in a socialist country. As for the creator of this elegantly sculptured keyboard telephone (a version with a dial disk preceeded it), this phone marks the pinnacle of his career. Many of his designs have been copied, awarded and recognized by design museums, but none more often than this handsome communication device.
