Stephen Poplawski 1946 Blender
When a Polish immigrant to the United States patented his idea for a malted milk mixer early last century, he could not envision that this would become an item in every household. Having been hired to develop a commercial malted milk mixer, he began to see its potential and so founded his own company. He patented the home use version in the Forties, ultimately selling his business to a manufacturer of hair clippers that had started to venture into electric household appliances after WW2. The blender became immensely successful, not only for kitchen use but also, to mix cocktails, and the manufacturer’s name became eponymous for the process.
