Poetic Lamp

Art was art and design was design until this gifted innovator came along and crossed the boundaries with lamps like these that have a poetic expression unlike any other. It gives light, but the way in which the thin cables on which it stands allow the bulb to vibrate ever so slightly has just the same style and rhythm that one would expect from an exquisite poem. The bulb, Edison’s ubiquitous and utilitarian instrument, is embellished with wings made from bird’s feathers. It is the contrast between natural materials and industrial ones, between naked technology and artistic elements that renders this lamp a welcome exception to the line-up of mass-produced industrial ware. Designed by a true luminary, it enlightens us while giving pleasure, too.
